Our Vision
We believe in changing workplace culture and procedures around drug use and impairment - and taking action to reduce this in the workplace. This will have a significant knock-on effect on reducing drug use in the community and improve safety on our roads.
In Particular
We believe in working towards mandatory regular drug testing for all employees who work in safety critical roles.
We believe that employers should be recognised for proactively working towards improving Scotlands drug culture, reducing the harm caused by drug use in the workplace, and within our communities.
We believe in educating the UK workforce in the impact and dangers of drugs in the workplace, how to recognise the signs, and how to get support.
We understand that people take drugs for different reasons, some to cover trauma, some due to peer pressure, some “just for fun”, but we believe that there’s “No Place in the Workplace” for drugs, and that with compassion, support and signnposting, and implementing new robust measures , we can reduce the numbers significantly.
We aim to make this happen across Scotland, and we want you, employers from every industry to be part of it.
If one life is saved as a result, this will be a success for our vision. If one employee stops smoking cannabis at the weekend, to avoid a failed drug test or disciplinary action, then this is success. If one employee goes to a drugs clinic for help to get off cocaine , to keep their job, then this is a success.
Any reduction in drug use, drug incidents, drug culture, drug driving and drug induced harm to employees wellbeing & mental health will be worth while. We believe that employers joining us in our vision will result in major improvements across the country.
